Being in lockdown (and being stuck at home) isn’t always the best feeling in the world. It can be boring, it can be frustrating and it can be isolating too. However, whilst it can be frustrating to be stuck at home, we should try our best to see it in as positive a light as possible. Perhaps some new light fitting or a chandelier will brighten up your room as well as your mood.

Spending more time at home means that we have the chance to make all the changes that we have been meaning to make in our homes.

But, where do we start? What are the ideal lockdown changes that you can make to your home?

Make more space with a mirror

You should never underestimate the power of mirrors in your home. Mirrors are not only incredibly decorative and can bring any space to life. They are also able to make a room look bigger too. They reflect light, and the actual room itself, which means that it is going to instantly make the room look brighter and bigger. Ideal if you are spending more time at home and want to maximise the space that you have.

Figure out your storage

Storage is not the most exciting of things to think about when it comes to your house, but it is incredibly important. Storage not only can make sure that your space is clean and clutter free, but it can actually make your room look bigger too. Storage comes in all shapes and sizes and what you choose will really depend on what it is that you want to organise and where you are going to put it in your home.

Head outdoors

Whilst we are not going to be using our outdoor spaces at the moment, this doesn’t mean that we won't be in the future. If you can brave the cold, then take a look at the outdoor space that you have. Are there any ways that you can improve your garden? What can you plant? How can you put away all the things that you may have in your garden and is there any way that you can create a social space to enjoy?

Change colours

If you are feeling energetic then you could give your room more of a complete overhaul. Think about how you could change the theme, style or overall look of the space. Maybe what you need to do is change up the colour scheme. The simplest way to do this is to paint or wallpaper the walls to transform them. That said, you are still going to need to think about how this works with furniture that you have in place, as well as any of your soft furnishings.

Choose some statement furniture

Another way to add a certain something to a room is to add in some statement furniture. The pieces that you choose will really depend on your room and what you need the furniture to do. The hallway is a great place to start, this is not only well used within your house, but it is also a space that often gets neglected.

So, what are you waiting for? If you are at home, then why not take the chance to transform it and make your space something to be proud of.
